Archaeology Experiment Teaching Center, founded in March 2006 and reformed from original Archaeological Technology Laboratory, is the base for archaeology practice and experiment teaching. It was approved to be the Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center of Universities of Sichuan province in 2008 and the National Level Experiment Teaching Demonstration Center in 2009. Based on Field Archeology, the Center closely combines with History and Ethnology, and makes comprehensive research on archaeological remains with reference to literatures extensively. The Center has an important academic status in Southwest even if the whole country because of its discipline advantage and scientific research strength.
The Center implements University and College two-level management system. At present, the Center appoints 1 director, 2 deputy directors and 7 laboratory directors. There are 23 full-time teachers, including 13 professors and 10 associate professors, as well as 9 support staff and 3 management staff. The Center covers 1250 square meters including 800 square meters of laboratory area. There are 127 sets of equipment with a total value more than 12,910,000 RMB.
The Center offers experiment in Archeology, Museology and Historic Preservation for the whole school with a total number of about 700 person-time, which includes about 460 person-time of undergraduates from Archeology department, and about 240 person-time of undergraduates from 23 majors of 10 Colleges, such as College of History and Culture, Physics, Chemistry, Architecture, Computer Science, Life Science, Materials Science, Forensic Medicine and so on. The annul teaching load reaches to 25060 person• credit hour.
