On the morning of May 22, in the VIP hall of the Administration Building of Jiang’an Campus, Vice President Shi Jian met with Vice President of the University of Massachusetts Ms. Marcie Williams and her 3 colleagues.
Vice President Shi Jian expressed warm welcome to Mrs. Macrie Williams. Shi introduced to the guests the university’s history, school mergers and development of key disciplines and made detailed introduction of international cooperation & exchanges and social service of Sichuan University. Shi pointed out, Sichuan University with its geographical prominence in west China, would strive to upgrade its educational level and strengthen education of globalized talents, so as to make greater contributions to local and regional social, economic and cultural development. As the two universities had good experience of cooperation, Shi hoped that the visit of Vice President Macrie Williams and her delegation would further strengthen mutual friendship, broaden range and scope of cooperation, make conducive exploration in the fields of joint education, scientific research and faculty exchanges, so as to achieve deeper resource sharing and cooperation.
Vice President Macrie Williams expressed the delight in her visit to Sichuan University and her appreciation for the gracious hospitality. She briefly introduced the basic information of University of Massachusetts and was very glad to note that the comprehensive cooperation and exchanges between the two universities had very usual positive significance and hoped the two sides could further promote cooperation and exchanges with each other in greater depth and wider scope.
During the meeting, the two sides also discussed and exchanged ideas on issues of mutual interest.
After the meeting, Vice President Macie Williams and her escort visited the Jiang’an Campus.
