The 2010 China-Russia University Presidents’ Roundtable Conference was held in Moscow on May 12 of 2010. From May 11 to 16, Mr. Chen Xi, Deputy Prime Minister of MOE, led the delegation of Chinese universities to visit universities in Moscow and St. Petersburg and attended the China-Russia University Presidents' Forum held in Moscow. Academician Xie Heping, President of Sichuan University, attended and delivered a speech at the forum.
The China-Russia University Presidents’ Forum is a program in the China-Russia National Year for education systems as well as an important event in the framework of 2010 Russian “China Year”. China chose Sichuan University, Tsinghua University, China Agricultural University, Shanghai Jiatong University, Tianjin University, Dalian University of Technology, University of Science and Technology and South China University of Technology as representatives to participate in the forum. Russia's Moscow State University and the All-Russian Association of University Presidents invited about 30 Russian representatives from 9-10 leading universities in Moscow to participate in the meeting, including Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow State Institute of Steel and Alloys, Moscow Medical Academy, etc. The representatives of two sides focused on the discussion on "education of Chinese and Russian professional talents in science and engineering”.
The theme of the forum is to increase the friendship between the Chinese and Russian people and promote in-depth understanding and exchanges of programs in science and engineering in the universities and colleges on both sides. In addition, this forum will also deepen and broaden the cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education, so as to boost the steady progress of the strategic partnership between China and Russia.
