On March 16, President Xie Heping met with the delegation of Clausthal University of Technology. Representatives from College of Architecture and Environment, College of Materials Science and Engineering, and Intensive Language Training Center attended the meeting.
President Xie Heping extended warm welcome to the delegation headed by Mr. Norbert Meyer, Dean of College of Energy and Economy and thanked Mr. Norbert and the professors from Clausthal University of Technology for giving lectures at Sichuan University and selecting excellent our students to study at Clausthal University of Technology. He said that since Sichuan University and Clausthal University of Technology signed cooperative and exchanging agreements on teaching and research in 2004, the two universities have made a series of achievements including the co-organization of Sino-Germany seminars, two major international cooperative research projects, and the implementation of joint doctoral program and “2+2”Civil and Environment Engineering Double Degree program. So far, 168 Sichuan University(SCU) students have studied at Clausthal University of Technology and now 12 SCU students are studying for their PHD there. President Xie Heping pointed out that frequent exchanges and visits carried out by the two universities have created favorable conditions for the two institutions to strengthen and expand exchanges and cooperation and strive for larger cooperation projects. Sichuan University and Clausthal University of Technology can have more in-depth and lasting cooperation in the sustainable use of energy, development of liquid gas, carbon dioxide storage and many other areas.
Dean Norbert Meyer expressed his thanks for our university’s hospitality and recalled the achievements the two universities made in “2+2”undergraduates exchanging program and joint doctoral program. He hoped that the two universities could further strengthen the cooperative research on long-term sustainability of energy.
