On the afternoon of May 22nd, the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement between Sichuan University and University of Birmingham was held. Mr. Jon Frampton, Vice President of University of Birmingham, and Mr. Yan Shijing, Vice President of Sichuan University, along with relevant personnel of both universities attended the ceremony.
On this occasion, Mr. Yan Shijing said that the exchange of the teachers and students of both universities had reaped fruit, and the young scholars participating in the academic visit had become the main staff of teaching and research in Sichuan University, which brought about a closer tie between these two universities. Mr. Yan Shijing hoped that both sides would further deepen cooperation, explore new cooperation mechanism and work together to cultivate outstanding talents in order to contribute more to social development.
Vice President Mr. Jon Frampton spoke highly of the significant achievements made from the cooperation between the two universities. The cooperation between University of Birmingham and Sichuan University was also a path for exchanges between Britain and China, he stressed, adding that a more effective student exchange mechanism could be set up to provide more mutually beneficial exchange opportunities for the talent teams.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues such as the International Curriculum Week Exchange Project of Sichuan University and the joint training model of the master and PhD students.
