May 31st, President Xie Heping, has been awarded a St Edmund Fellowship by St Edmund Hall, Oxford. This honor is in recognition of his leadership of academic collaborations between Sichuan University and St Edmund Hall of the University of Oxford. President Xie has contributed widely to the ongoing collaboration which has brought academic benefits to faculty members and students at both institutions.
Since 2014, Sichuan University and St Edmund Hall have forged a successful partnership–including the implementation of visiting student and visiting fellow programs; a series of distinguished speaker lectures; and summer courses focusing on Academic Medicine and Economics & Public Policy. These activities have facilitated academic contacts between the two institutions and stimulated collaborative research.
President Xie is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has long been engaged in the theoretical and applied research of mining engineering mechanics, and has authored six books and published over 200 papers including more than 100 of them in the SCI journals.
St Edmund Hall is one of the oldest college of the University of Oxford, which dates back to thirteenth century. St Edmund Hall graduates around the world have forged successful careers in fields such as law, medicine, journalism, science, the city, public service and the arts, prepared and inspired by their time at the College.
