The International Journal of Oral Science (IJOS) is an English-language, open-access journal, which, since January 2012, has been published by SCU’s West China School of Stomatology and the Nature Publishing Group (NPG). It covers a range of topics in oral science and related fields, such as oral microbiology, oral and maxillofacial oncology, oral inflammation and infection, as well as dental stem cells and regenerative medicine, among other fields. The journal is indexed in Journal Citation Reports (Science Edition), Web of Science, PubMed, Ulrich PD, and Index Copernicus. Its editor-in-chief is Zhou Xuedong of Sichuan University.
Over the past five years, IJOS has consistently been voted China’s internationally most influential journal in the natural sciences and engineering in nationwide journal rankings. The selection is made annually from a total of 175 natural sciences and engineering journals. Judges draw on various metrics to determine the quality of a journal, looking at impact factors over several years, among other indicators. Apart from citation-based measurements, they also rely on expert opinions to determine the quality of article content. Rankings are reported in the Annual Report for International Citation of Chinese Academic Journals, which annually announces the “Highest International Impact” Chinese academic journal, alongside the distinction of “Excellence in International Impact”.
