On November 24, 2011, Dr. Li Hong, our Executive Vice President welcomed a delegation headed by Mr. Joe Fontana , mayor of London, Western Ontario, Canada.

 

The Mayor was accompanied by Dr. John Denstedt and Dr. John Parker of The University of Western Ontario, Mr. Joaquim Balles, President of the London Chamber of Commerce, Mr. George Baran and Mr. Grant Hopcroft of the London Municipal government. Their purposes were to explore University-enterprise cooperation possibilities, to deepen the relationship of health studies and expand exchanges and collaborations between Sichuan University and the University of Western Ontario, and to prepare for an official visit of a larger delegation of Western Ontario in April of 2012.

 

Attending the meeting were leaders from our medical school, public health school, international office and the office for health affairs. Vice President Li Hong extended his warm welcome to the guests on behalf of President Xie Heping. He provided a brief introduction of the history and development of  Sichuan University, spoke highly of the existing productive cooperation with the University of Western Ontario and expressed the wish to seek opportunities for collaboration in different ways and areas.

 

After the meeting, the guests visited the hospital labs and talked with representatives from the law school and the schools of mechanical engineering and life science.
