“Food Science and Technology Key Laboratory of Universities in Sichuan Province” is one of the“523 Key Laboratory Construction Project” in Sichuan University, which received the key construction support of Sichuan Province. The current labfor teaching and scientific researching occupied a total area of 2,500 square meters，and hasinvested over 20 million CNY in professional laboratory apparatus andequipment fixed assets. Furthermore, there are 6 professional labs for undergraduate courses including food analysis lab, food microbiology lab, food physical properties lab, baking technology lab,canning technology lab, fermentation technology lab, together with several researching labs(food processing and preservation technology, ecological food engineering and biotechnology, function-food technology, food resources development, new technology of food science and engineering, molecular nutrition and food quality and safety).
The lab has 24 professional teachers now. Among them, there 6 professors, 7 associate professors, 1 committee member of Steering Committee of Ministry of Education forfood science and engineering, 2members of New CenturyExcellentTalents ofMinistry of Education, 3academic leadercandidates of Sichuanprovince, 1 council member in AgriculturalProducts Storage and Processing-Branch of China Association of Agricultural Science Societies, 2assessment experts for China Scholarship Council, 8 editorial board members of various core journals in China, 4 reviewers for international academic journals (for instance, Food Chemistry, Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, etc), 1 distinguished academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as 8 visiting professors from abroad such as the United States, Japan, South Korea, etc.
The lab undertakes the scientific research tasks of the total fundingof more than 600 million yuanfrom the state, local governments and
enterpriseseach year. At the same time,it undertakes hundreds of scientific research projects and obtains a large number of research achievements. It has 18national, provincial and municipal scientific and technological awards and100 authorized invention patents. In the past 5 years, there are more than 100 paperspublished in three major international indexes(SCI, EI and ISTP), many of which published ininternational top three academic journalsin the field of food science. Meanwhile，it has published 18monographs and textbooks, including4 national planning materialsof“The Twelfth Five-Year Plan”,3 national planning materialsof "The Eleventh Five-Year Plan ", 1 characteristics material of“The Tenth Five-Years Plan”of the Ministry of Education.
