讲座题目：The World is Fairy Tale. Hans Christian Andersen as Travel Writer
“Living is Travelling!” Hans Christian exclaimed in awe in the account on his first travel abroad to Northern Germany in 1831. If this was his first travel, it was definitely not the last one. He continued to explore the wonders of world throughout his life, across Europe from North to South, even to the Middle East. His fairy tales are not only about imaginary worlds beyond human experience, but reflect his view of the emerging world with technology, communication and possibilities for individuals like himself to travel where he wanted and encounter foreign cultures and the infinite human variability they displayed. Through Andersen, the lecture will tell about travelling as a feature of early modern everyday life and an impotant feature in the move from local literatures to world literature.
