On the morning of March 22, 2018, director of International Exchange Department, Singapore Management University (SMU) Matthew Lee and his group visited our school. Responsible persons for relevant functional departments, professional teachers of both sides, at 717 conference room of management building, on the related settings of professional courses, training programs, cultures of two schools and other contents, an in-depth discussion is delivered. At the same time, a positive study is made on the future cooperation mechanism and project exchange forms. Director of International Office of Sichuan University, director of Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Zhang Sijie attends the meeting, director of Management Science and System Science Department, School of Business of Sichuan University, professor Hu Zhineng, associate professor Ying Qianwei of Accounting and Corporate Finance Department, School of Business, and related personnel of International Office of Sichuan University participate in the discussion.
At the beginning of the conference, Director of International Office of Sichuan University, director of Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Zhang Sijie welcomes the guests. He briefly introduces the basic conditions such as history and culture of Sichuan University, personnel training and discipline construction.
Then, Matthew Lee, director of International Exchange Department, Singapore SMU, introduces the history and culture, teaching characteristics and research strength of their university. He says SMU established academic cooperation with Sichuan University in 2013, and carried out international forum between Sichuan University and SMU in 2015, which have aroused enthusiastic response. We hope the two sides can strengthen cooperation, implement more relevant cooperation projects, deepen bilateral cooperation and exchanges.
After that, director Zhang Sijie introduces Sichuan University’s International University Immersion Program (UIP) which is held in summer and other international exchange programs, and emphasizes that Sichuan University has always been prioritizing the cultivation of students' comprehensive calibers, as well as efforts for supporting foreign exchange and cooperation projects. Director of International Exchange Department, SMU Matthew Lee also introduces the postgraduate students training program of SMU and student employment condition and occupation selection of their university.
In the end, the two sides discuss and communicate on MBA exchange project, MQF Master of Science in Quantitative Finance and other characteristic postgraduate training programs and undergraduate dual degree training programs. Both sides indicate that further cooperation should be deepened regarding the depth of contents and diversity of forms, based on academic cooperation.
