2009 International Conference on Strategic Management(2009ICSM) Is Held in Business School

2009 International Conference on Strategic Management, which was co-sponsored by Sichuan University, University of Minnesota, Dutch institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship and The Nature Conservancy Asia Pacific, hosted by Business School of Sichuan University, Strategy and Development Research Center of Business School, Jiuzhaigou County of Sichuan province and the Second Research Institute of CAAC was held in Sichuan University and Jiuzhaigou County on 25-30, June 2009.

The participants attending this conference are Vice-president of Sichuan University Prof. Shi Jian, Associate Dean of Renmin University of China Prof. Xu Erming, initiator of resource-based view Prof. Jay B. Barney, Vice-president of AUFE Prof. Chen Zhongwei, Executive Vice-President of Business School Prof. Yang Jiang, Vice-president Xu Jiuping and other famous professors from China, America, Norway, Thailand, Japan and Romania.

Opening ceremony started at the cheerful music, and Professor Shi Jian, Vice-Chancellor of Sichuan University, on behalf of the organizers led a speech to express the warm welcome to participants. As a two-time Academic Chairman of the Committee, Professor Xu Erming from Renmin University of China highly affirmed the previous meeting (International Conference on Strategic Management in 2007) results, and expressed high hopes for this meeting.

During the two-day meeting, Professor Jay B. Barney, Professor Xu Erming, Dr. Ingrid Schneider, Director of Tourism Management Center of University of Minnesota, Professor Zhang Yinghong from Capital University of Economics and Business Administration, Professor Sun Xuanzhong, Dean of Business School of China University of Politics and Business, and Professor Chen Weizheng from Sichuan University, all made excellent speech and new explanation to strategic innovation and meaning of sustainable development, respectively in aspect of tourism industry innovation, regional sustainable development, SMEs entrepreneurship and development strategy in transforming period, self-innovation, globalization, information technology. They called a wide identity with delegates on their ideas.

In the branch hall, arround topics "Strategy and Management Engineering: Enterprise, Environment and Crisis" theme, participants made an extensive and in-depth discussion from the following six aspects in detail: tourism, environment and enterprise development strategies, small and medium enterprises entrepreneurship and growth strategies in transition period, business strategies for sustainable development, independent innovation and business strategies for sustainable development, globalization and the coordinated development of enterprises strategy, enterprises management strategy.

First, tourism, environment and enterprise development strategies

Tourism has become an important service industry all over the world, and been playing a significant role in promoting and subject to national experts and scholars of growing concern. But with the development of tourism, a number of problems appeared, such as the double impact of environmental and cultural crisis of the sensitivity and vulnerability, etc, both of which have become the tourism industry problems to be solved. on the above hot issues, This meeting discussed connecting reality and the practice of State.

Second, entrepreneurship and growth strategies of SMEs in transition period

The importance of SMEs in the economic development is growing. importance of entrepreneurship and growth in the SME process, national experts conducted in-depth discussion on how to resolve the issue of sustainable development of SMEs, and made practical examples at home and abroad by an empirical analysis .

Third, business strategies for sustainable development

At present, information technology and globalization influence sustainable development of enterprises increasingly far-reaching. On this basis, representatives of the conference discussed the key points influencing sustainable development of enterprises, way of realizing that, introducing a large number of detailed cases. The discussion was informative and concrete, with innovative perspective.

Forth, independent innovation and business strategies for sustainable development

Independent innovation is a driving force for sustainable development of enterprises, and also an important component of strategic innovation.

Domestic and foreign experts and scholars put forward study and innovation tending model of entrepreneurs under the uncertain environment, and furthermore its application in the transition economies of China. Meanwhile they also discussed deeply in the factors that affect the capability of independent innovation and the relationship between independent innovation capability and industrial clusters innovation capabilities.

Fifth, globalization and business strategies for coordinated development

Globalization is a new phenomenon appearing since 1980s worldwide as the basic character of present era. Domestic and foreign experts and scholars discussed on strategy of coordinated development and how to how to enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises under the background of globalization. Patterns of China's change in multinational corporations and FDI and import substitution strategy were also discussed.

Sixth, enterprise management strategy

Enterprise management strategy is guarantee of realization of business strategic innovation and successful implementation of sustainable development. Experts and scholars discussed human capital strategy, portfolio management in the banking development strategy and other aspects using related theories like game analysis, comparative research, commission agents and weighting models and so on.

Discussion in branch hall was active and enthusiastic, displaying and sharing the latest research results and practical experience to enterprises strategic innovation and sustainable development all over the world.

Finally, the Assembly Chairman of Organizing Committee Professor Wen Jie Xiaowen made a synthesis report on the closing of this conference.

After the closing ceremony, Professor Jay B. Barney made a wonderful academic lecture to doctoral student in the school which showed a successful conclusion of 2009 International Conference on the strategic management.

This conference received more than 320 papers from many countries. After a careful review of Sino-US reviewers, "2009 Proceedings International Conference on Strategic Management," compiled by the 2009ICSM Organizing Committee and pressed by Sichuan University Press included 181 articles which will be sent to the CPCI-SSH retrieval institution that is international authority one. After meticulous preparation of 2009ICSM Organizing Committee, this conference provides a platform for academic exchanges for experts from around the world.
