The selection contest of 2008 Star of Self-improvement College Students in China hosted by The Central Committee of the Communist Young League and All-China Students’ Federation, co-sponsored by New Oriental Group and China Youth newspaper was ended recently. Through the strict selection procedure, 10 students including 07 undergraduate student Wen Zeping from Business School of Sichuan University, Zhao Zexia from Peking University, Li Anmin from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhang Jian from Harbin Institute of Technology, were awarded the name of Star of Self-improvement College Student in China in 2008.
Wen Zeping, a male undergraduate 2007 of Business School in Sichuan University, was the only one with a rank of “chairman of the board” in the students who were awarded this title. Although from a poor family with lower than 160cm height and poor mandarin, he was clinging in entrepreneurship. Since the enrollment in Sichuan University, he has been studying hard and collecting capital in many ways to create Cultivation Base, Ju Quan Torchbearer Training School and Bashu Fifth-Star Holiday Cultural Training School. He became a real entrepreneur, and also a self-improvement and self-independence example of students in Sichuan University. He expressed a spirit of hard-working in study, work and daily life, which is a abundant spiritual fortune and alive presentation of college students in modern time.
The award was held in University of Science and Technology Beijing at the afternoon of January 18th. Secretariat of the Central Committee of China's Communist Youth League Lu Yongzheng, Beijing People’s Congress member Liagnwei and President of All-China Students’ Federation attended this meeting, during which more than 500 college students from 16 Universities all over the country gathered to have the spring festival.
